My mother’s day.

My mother’s day is very different from others. I don’t cook her breakfast in bed, bring her flowers, buy her jewelry, or anything like that. My mom doesn’t expect those things. Besides it doesn’t make sense for her to give me money to buy her a gift. My mom is the kind of person that would rather take me and my brother out and treat us instead of herself. To her, mother’s day is not about getting fancy breakfasts and expensive jewelry. It’s about being thankful that she’s been blessed to have kids, and has the privilege to be a mother. I love my mom.

Mainstream vs. Underground

The only difference between mainstream music and underground music are the number of people that listen to it. I have come to the conclusion that there are three types of listeners. The top 40 listener, the person that can live off radio hits. This person just listens to what everyone else listens to, and tends to go for songs with a good melody and catchy chorus. The top 40 listener is usually into pop. There’s the rebel listener, the person that listens to underground music to be ‘different’. They listen to such music for the sake of listening to it, and hate on mainstream music. What the rebel listener fails to realize is that all musicians start off underground. However, once an underground artist becomes popular, a common phrase you will hear is, ‘Pshtt, I was listening to them since time.’ or ‘I was listening to them first’ and things along the lines of these phrases. Lastly, there is the open ear listener. This person could care less about whether a song or artist is mainstream or underground. The open ear listener bases her/his taste in music on lyrical intelligence and/or musical talent. Hmm, which one are you?

Sometimes people make it complicated.

It’s funny how a person can be introduced to something totally simple, and think ‘Damn, why didn’t I think of that?’ or ‘Shit, I could’ve thought of that’. Sometimes things are really just that simple.

When people talk shit to me about other people, it makes me wonder what they say about me when I’m not around.
